What to do in Exeter: family attractions

Exeter is the perfect place for a day trip with the entire family. The vast variety of family-friendly attractions makes it difficult to choose where to go! We’ll make it easy for you to decide by showing you our favourites and describing them briefly. Let’s start with the amazing pick for animal lovers – The Donkey Sanctuary.

1. The Donkey Sanctuary

Don’t miss out on this must-see, completely free-to-visit, children-friendly place. Donkeys are known to be gentle and welcoming to affection. Petting and feeding encouraged! If you fall in love with one of them, you can even adopt it to help the Sanctuary. There’s a store there from which all the profit is donated to charity organizations helping donkeys all around the world. Bring along your whole family(you can even bring your dog – just make sure it’s friendly and held on a leash) and enjoy the company of endearing animals!

2. Crealy Theme Park & Resort

Designated not only for summer time, this theme park offers amusement all year round (excluding the water rides in winter). Spoil yourself with luxury hot tub lodges while the kids enjoy various rides and water attractions. There’s something for everyone there, from the crazy Twister to the Victorian Carousel. You can search for a hidden treasure and dinosaur bones as well as relax with meerkats at their manor. Many fantastic events are held there such as the Eggo-Saurus Dino Hunt in April. If you enjoy camping, the resort offers a camping site with all the things necessary for a successful stay for both newbies and experts.

3. Exeter Golf & Country Club

Fellow golfers, Exeter does not disappoint! Just minutes from the city centre, you’ll find the Exeter Golf & Country Club, offering lots of leisure activities. If your family is not keen on this particular sport, they can enjoy tennis, squash or swimming while you master your technique. Over a 100 acres of parkland with water features are at your disposal. If you’re a local, their memberships are a great deal. Golf novices are welcome as well – the staff of experts at EGCC is always happy to help out. After enjoying physical activity, get ready to relax at their Wear Park Spa.

As you can see, there’s something for everyone in Exeter. If you’re planning a trip for 2021, take our Isca House under consideration for your accommodation. It’s a place to make you feel at home.
